Further Down The Line
03:47
|
|||
I came home to a letter,
not the kind she used to write to me.
There's no way to make this better,
her bags are packed it's time to leave.
But I won't give up, I won't surrender,
even when it gets hard to breathe.
And I guess I know this now,
it's just time to let her be.
She says she needs some time
to see the world and clear her mind,
I wonder what it is she hopes to find.
I said I've got no place to go,
and if you must leave that's fine,
I just pray I see you further down the line...
and I hate to wait,
but I guess I'll wait this time.
She came home to surrender,
she never was the type to fight with me.
It's been ages since I've met her,
but nothing really changes me.
She says she needs some time
to see the world and clear her mind,
I wonder what it is she hopes to find.
I said I've got no place to go,
and if you must leave that's fine,
I just pray I see you further down the line,
I just pray I see you further down the line...
and I hate to wait,
but I guess I'll wait this time.

Like It's A Crime

Well Mamma always told me,
boy there's no need for,
you to be satisfied.
They only want your money,
so listen to me honey,
treat love like it's a ride.
And Daddy said I'm crazy,
I don't need my lady,
nagging at me all the time.
But I can't help but love her
and put no one else above her,
and treat love like it's a ride.
And I don't need no one around here bringing me down.
No I don't need no one around here
bringing me down.
Well maybe if you knew her,
you could grow to love her,
and then you'd be satisfied.
The way that I treat her
is the way that I need her,
treat love like it's a ride.
And Daddy said I'm crazy,
I don't need my lady,
nagging at me all the time.
But I can't help but love her
and put no one else above her,
and treat love like it's a crime.
And I don't need no one around here bringing me down.
No I don't need no one around here
bringing me down.
No I don't need no one around here bringing me down.
No I don't need no one around here
bringing me down,
bring me down,
bring me down,
bring me down.
And I don't need no one around here bringing me down.
No I don't need no one around here
bringing me down.
No I don't need no one around here bringing me down.
And I don't need no one around here
bringing me down,
bring me down,
bring me down,
bring me down.

So give me back my neverdays,
the days that are now far away,
the days that I could look,
the days that I could stare,
right into you eyes.
And think about the times we had,
and all the times we raised our glass,
the times it was half full,
you're so predictable,
but we planned it that way.
Because I, well I finally realized that I could never let you down.
It seem I, well I finally grew a heart big enough I'm able to wear this crown.
So give me back my neverdays,
the days that are now far away,
the days that I could look,
the days that I could stare,
right into you eyes.
And think about the times we had,
and all the times you raised your glass,
the times it was half full,
you're so predictable,
but we planned it that way
Because I, well I finally realized that I could never let you down.
It seems I, well I finally grew a heart big enough I'm able to wear this crown.
Because I, well I finally realized that I could never let you down.
It seems I, well I finally grew a heart big enough I'm able to wear this crown.

Chasing Trains

Well I've been chasin' trains
for far too long.
I've been searchin' for the memories
where they once belonged.
I've been searchin' all day 'cause you know there's no place like home.
And I've been lookin' for way too long,
I've been lookin' for the memory where we once belonged.
I've been lookin' all day 'cause you know there's no place like home.
Well I've been chasin' trains
for far too long.
I've been searchin' for the memories
where they once belonged.
I've been searchin' all day 'cause you know,
searchin' all day 'cause you know,
searchin' all day 'cause you know there's no place like
home.

The Distance

She doesn't dance the way she used to,
she's no longer a Queen.
She doesn't walk the way she used to,
but he loves it when she sings...
It's the distance,
the distance that's to blame.
He doesn't talk the way he used to,
he's no longer a King.
He doesn't pull out chairs for girls who
do not wear his ring...
It's the distance,
the distance that's to blame.
We don't always know what we're doing
but somehow we both play this game;
and we can't ever expect to win
unless we are both willing to race...
but it's the distance
the distance that's to blame
